OK, I’ll go into more detail then.

Everybody should do deadlifts for a variety of reasons but the most compelling overall reason is for posture, and keeping a strong straight back.

You see the old people getting around with hunchbacks, bent over with age? If they had done deadlifts then their spinal muscles would not have atrophied to the point that they are hunchbacked and invalid.

Office workers sittign in their chairs all day, especially computer programmers are particularly prone to a similar fate, Deadlifts once a week will keep your back feeling good and stave off those back pains your co-workers feel.

Bodybuilders want to do deadlifts to get maximum muscle growth and strength.

More importantly many bodybuilders do not understand it is vitally important to train for thickness before width if you want to get a big back.

You want a big, wide, thick back, well you have come to the right place.

At 7 feet tall I am considered to have a big back for my height. Even more telling is that I have Deadlifted 705lbs from the floor, no powersuit, no knee wraps, no weight lifting belt and no wrist straps. Now condsider that additional distance that I have to move the weight in a full deadlift compared to your average short powerlifter - that is a lot more power even at the same poundage.

Also add in 520lb bent over rows and other assorted feats of strenght, not to mention that I have put on 73kg of muscle since I started weight lifting (bodybuilding in particular).

My own personal progress speaks for itself, I also have a piece of paper saying that I was a qualified personal trainer until I realise I knew more than the lecturers and had to correct them on several ocassions with literary scientific studies.

I know what I am doing, read though this site and come back regularly as it will be updated constantly, it is a blog after all.

PLEASE if you have any questions go to the contact form above and email me your questions I will write a new post anwersing the ones not previously covered and anything interesting.
